Do you see this cheesy billboard on the left? These throwback cartoon Billy Dee ads for Colt 45 have been popping up all over Detroit in the last few weeks, and apparently ppl are really upset about them.
This man called yesterday and said, "Why don't yall put up something bout sum education or somethin like tha? I dont wanna have to ride around with my kids seeing that. And 'Works every time', what does that mean? I don't get it."
To that I say, ol fool, you know what that means, cuz u knew what it meant back in 1974 when you first saw it. And as for not wanting your kids to see it, OK, be a parent and tell you kids not to drink. They couldn't buy it for themselves even if they wanted to, so that's a non-issue. Next?
Honestly, I see the billboards as a dinosaur of a brand trying to make sum new money by going back to an ad that a segment of the population can relate to. Which segment is that? Your grannies! As well as the dudes who are already outside the liquor store with their paper bags every time you go. I don't think Billy Dee is gonna make a buncha teens wanna drink malt liquor...so what is there to worry about? I could see if it was Lil Wayne or sumbody...
