For all you ppl who have shaken your heads and wondered sumthing along the lines of, "What's happening to these kids today?" my answer to you is this: look at their parents.
You can't have home training if no one in your home has good sense.
I was listening to a public hearing of the Detroit City Council. Since they're here for the public, they held a hearing where absolutely anybody could stand up and express how they felt about the issues with COBO Hall. Problems arose because there was such a lack of decorum in the auditorium that you really couldn't hear anyone - much less understand their position.
It sounded like your middle school cafeteria.
It sounded like the playground at recess.
It sounded like the Apollo Theater.
When actual representatives from Lansing tried to clear up the myths about the COBO deal and spell out what is really being proposed, they were met with boos and name calling and general disrespect. You couldn't hear the ppl on the microphone because the ppl in the audience were even louder. I honestly feared for certain ppl's safety because the hostility was palpable.
So if "adults" go to a meeting and call each other names simply because they disagree with another person, what do you expect their kids to do? If grown ppl can't have a discussion where one person speaks at a time, you shouldn't be surprised if you go to your child's school and witness the same scene.
Parents don't know how to act, and grannies aren't grannies anymore. That's what it boils down to...
