So...CNN's Special Report "Black in America" may have been an educational tool for those of you who are NOT black in America...or those of you who have forgotten that you ARE black in America.
But, uh, as for the rest of us...we live it - we didn't have to see it. But I applaud the effort.
(BUT PLEASE DO WATCH THE STUDENT-PRODUCED iReports!)

I dont think anyone in educated black america or black americas who pay attention to america in general were the TARGET demographic. This documentary was for non blacks and ignorant blacks basically. Lets show blacks that they are greater than or equal to the mess we see on VH1 and BET.
Agreed; that's what I was trying to say...like it wasn't for us to watch.
THANK YOU!!! With the exception of Spike Lee's spot, I really didn't need to be reminded of how fucked up it can be to be black in America. But I appreciate the ratings boost...oops, though, CNN.

I agree with you that the two-part series was intended for white viewers... black people were deeply angered by the superficiality and the stereotypes...
Soledad may have THOUGHT she was showing her journalism skills....but ... she missed the mark this time...
